What is Dropshipping?
Dropshipping is where a supplier will pick, pack & deliver goods that you have sold through your website direct to the customer. If you are using a dropshipper, you are able to sell products on the internet, without the need to hold stock or handle the products you are selling. Dropshipping gives merchants the power to set up and launch an eCommerce business with very little initial outlay. There is also the additional benefit of reduced ongoing operating costs, as no stock and inventory management is needed. Should you wish to use a dropshipper with your EKM website, follow the steps below…
Setting up your EKM Website for drop-shipping
At this stage, you will have already identified your preferred dropshipper and set up the relevant accounts so you can begin to trade. At this point, you need to set your website to notify the dropshipper when you have sold a product. There are 2 ways in which you can communicate your orders to your desired dropshipper.
Method 1 - exporting orders to CSV file
This method allows you to export your daily orders to be emailed to your dropshipper for processing. Go to the features section of your EKM website and install the ‘import & export’ feature. This will allow you to export your orders in a .CSV format.
Once you have located the feature in the features section, please install it by clicking the blue button on the bottom right.
Once the import / Export feature has been installed, you can use this tool to export your daily orders.
Once you have exported your orders to a .CSV file, you can them email that file to your dropshipper to process your days orders. You can also use the Import / Export tool to import products from your dropshipper into your EKM shop. Speak to your account manager who can arrange for the .CSV file from your dropshipper to be formatted for import into EKM.
Method 2 - Order by Order notification.
This method notifies your dropshipper on an order by order basis, rather than one file containing all your days orders. Once this process has been set up, it is automated. To set this up, all you need to do is add your dropshippers email address into your order confirmations. Firstly, go to the settings section within EKM and select ‘outgoing emails’ from the menu on the left.
The next step is to add in your dropshipper email address to your outgoing notifications. To do this, simply add in the desired email address in the ‘Shop Email Address’ field at the top of the page. Always ensure email addresses in this field are separated by semicolon ( ; ) as per the below example.
Once you have you completed this step, your dropshipper will be copied into your order notifications and should fulfil your order.
