301 Redirects allow you to set up a permanent redirect from your old website provider URL's to your new online shop ones meaning minimal impact on your search engine rankings.
Using the system
Once in there, it's simply a case of setting the old and new URL strings and clicking on Add Redirect.
[remember]It's the part of the URL after the domain name that need to be entered, so for example http://www.yourdomainname.com/categoryone would simply be entered as /categoryone and in the Enter the New URL field, you would enter the EKM URL string after the domain name, so http://www.yourdomainname.com/category-one-1-c.asp would be entered as /category-one-1-c.asp.[/remember]
You can also upload a CSV file with the old URL and new URL's on separate lines, see below for an example.
No headers are needed for the spreadsheet, just make sure the old URL's are placed in the first column and New URLs are in the second column, and it's saved as a CSV.
Once you have the prepared file, go into the 301 Redirects Feature, and in the section select the CSV file containing your redirects click the Choose File button, find and select your file, then click on Import Redirects.
This will then import and process your 301 redirects CSV.
