ekmPowershop offers a user-friendly file management facility for you to manage all of your files such as images, CSS and PDF documents.
1. The File Manager can be found within the Design section of your ekmPowershop along the grey navigation bar.
The file manager allows you to upload images into a library first, so you can select them from the server when populating an editable element such as the welcome area or spare page. You can also pre-populate the library so the images are already there when assigning images to categories and products.
2. An added bonus of the file manager is that you can upload multiple images in one go by using the drag & drop system. This allows you to open a folder on your computer then simply drag the image from the window and into the grey area shown below.
The File Manager contains 6 sub-libraries for the various file types that you may upload. These are:
Product & Category Images - Images purely for categories and products.
Design Images - For editable elements such as logos, sliding banners and additional webpages.
Style Sheets - CSS files for a custom design you may be using.
Flash Files - Flash files you may wish to include anywhere in the site.
Favicon - (Favourite Icon) - This is a 16x16 pixel image that will appear on the tab of your browser. For more information on how to create a favicon on your ekmPowershop, click here.
Other Files - For if you wish to upload such as .pdf files for users to access.
Image Files: The libraries for Product & Category Images and Design Images will allow you to populate them so the images are on the server ready for when you are creating or editing a category or product and wish to assign an image to it. You can also upload images during the addition or editing of a category or product, at which point the image uploaded will be renamed to take on the name of the category or product it is assigned to. This is a very useful search engine optimisation technique. The Design Images library will allow you to upload images so they become available when adding images into editable areas via the toolbar, as explained here.
Extra Files: The files in these libraries will show the URL of their location directly underneath which you can copy and paste should you need to use the URL directly. This is useful if you wish to place a link to a .pdf or .doc file as you would use the URL to create a hyper link to that file for your users to access. More info on creating hyper links can be found here whereby you would link to the file address instead of a page address.
Search: You can easily locate an uploaded file by using the search box. Select the sub-library you wish to search through, type your search query into the search box and then click the magnifying glass to do a search through all the files in that sub-library.
Restrictions: The file manager offers a maximum of 10Mb of server space as standard. Please note however, this does not apply to the Product & Category Images libraries. All images that you upload will be optimised by the system and compressed to be under 350Kb. Other file types should be uploaded (such as .pdf documents) at a size no larger than 5Mb.
