Editing an element is one of the most elementary functions you will encounter when building your online shop. However, let’s first establish what we mean by an element.
What is an ‘Element’?
Being an online shop owner hosted on EKM, you will likely hear the word element mentioned quite frequently. An element is essentially a section of your EKM account that you can edit and add new content to at the click of a button.
Edit Buttons (On/Off)
1. Before editing an element, you must first ensure that you have your edit buttons turned on.
You will have two different edit buttons, one blue and one yellow. The blue edit button is for editing a product whereas the yellow edit button is for editing a design element. If your edit buttons are turned on, they will appear with a blue tick over them and with a red cross if they are turned off. You will see the edit button On/Off switches to the right of Add Product and Add Category at the top of your homepage (when on the shop tab).
How to edit an element
2. To edit an element simply click on the yellow Edit button next to the element in which you wish to add to/edit.
[remember]The edit element button will typically appear the bottom/top left of the area that you wish to edit. In the example below, we are trying to change the contact number on the header of the homepage.[/remember]
3. After clicking on the yellow edit element button, you will then see the screen below. This is where you can enter your intended information. In this case, I would delete the phone number that is currently held within the element and replace it with the correct number. Once we are happy with these changes we will then click Save & Close.
