In this guide we’ll take a look at EKM's mobile theme and how you can configure it to fit the look of your shop.
Accessing and editing the new mobile theme couldn’t be easier. Start by heading over to Settings > Mobile Shop and ensure you have mobile commerce enabled.
When you are in Settings > Mobile Shop, you will see that you have further settings that you can enable/disable on your mobile shop. These are:
1. Enable Categories.
2. Enable Special Offers.
3. Enable Products.
Simply tick the boxes to enable each setting and then select Save Settings.
Next, head over to the Design section of your EKM account and switch from Desktop to Mobile just under the top navigation bar. Here you will see your Mobile Theme page as shown below. This is where you will go to make any design amendments to your mobile shop.
The theme is accountable for the overall design of your template. Although you have the ability to edit all of your pages, be careful when editing your theme as similar to the desktop version of the site, there will be consistencies that run throughout all of the pages. By pressing the Edit button you will see three options:
- Edit Shop Logo
A shortcut to editing your online shop’s logo. Although we advise against using a logo on your Mobile Shop template (unless you have a small image) as it can take up too much room, this section will allow you to either add a logo that you have already created or create a new logo or use your shop name text as your logo.
- Change Colours
To change or customise the colours on your mobile theme, use the Edit drop-down and you will see the option to Change Colours. Here you will be presented with a list of all of the featured colours on your mobile theme. You will see that when you change a colour it will be demonstrated on the preview on the left giving you an indication of which colour relates to which area of your shop.
- Default Colours
When you first log on to your mobile theme you will notice that it will be consistent with the colours that are already on the desktop version of your shop. If you change the colours on the mobile theme and then decide that you preferred the look before the changes were made, use the Default Colours options to rest the colours to how they were.
- Edit in Custom Mode
Editing in custom mode gives you editorial control of your mobile commerce template. By entering custom mode you will have access to the HTML. Please note, by going into custom mode you will not receive automatic updates and bug fixes.
5. Preview Theme
Preview will give you the opportunity to view what your mobile shop will look like to customers. This feature will let you view what your shop will look like on different mobile devices. You can view your shop through the following devices:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- Nexus 5
- Samsung Galaxy S5
- HTC One
- Lumia 920
Home And Category Page Layout
As with the theme, you have full customisation control of your home and category pages. If you wish to customise them, click on Edit in Custom Mode where you will see the custom HTML. This is not a necessity however as these pages will carry the same design as you have entered on the Theme tab.
Product Page Layout
As well as having full customisation capabilities, the product page layout will also give you the option to enter/edit your own custom Add To Cart button. The system will allow you to either use standard text or allow you to upload your own image giving you a preview of how the Add To Cart button will appear.
Your online shop lets you view how your online shop will look on mobile devices with the click of a button. When on the Shop tab you will see a sub-section named Preview. Here you will be able to view your shop in both Desktop and Mobile view.
