Further to the recent network issues, we wanted to let you know that we have completed our investigations and can now confirm they were caused by a targeted Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS) against one of our customers.
A DDoS attack floods our network with traffic, similar to hundreds of thousands of people trying to get through the entrance of a shop all at once, which causes it to shut down. We have been able to identify the targeted customer and are currently taking appropriate action to prevent this from reoccurring.
Off the back of today's attack, we are taking a number of measures. Noteable measures are as follows:
Upgrading routers - This will give us much more control and enable us to respond and mitigate these situations much faster.
Replacing and upgrading firewall - The firewall is the first line that prevents these kind of attacks from happening. We are in talks with new providers to improve our firewall and prevent such attacks in future.
Again, we apologise for today's events and we want you to know that we're doing everything we can to prevent this from happening again.
