Adding SnapWidget to your EKM online shop

Avatar Eve Bolan 28 January 2019 16:18

[intro] When you have completed this Guide, you will have successfully added a gallery comprised of your Instagram feed to your EKM online shop using SnapWidget. [/intro]

  • Generating the SnapWidget code
  • Adding the gallery to a Webpage
  • Adding the gallery to an Element

[/summary]

If you want to increase your Instagram following or your brand has a particularly strong Instagram presence, then you may want to consider opening a SnapWidget account. This links up with your Instagram account to generate a gallery which can then be embedded on your EKM online shop, which works particularly well on ‘About Us’ Webpages and as Category Images at the top of the Category Pages (if your Theme allows for this).

[remember] Before you begin, you need to have created an Instagram account especially for your EKM online shop. If you are not sure how to do this, click here for a basic Guide and click here to learn how to be able to tag your Products in your Instagram images. [/remember]

Generating the SnapWidget code

1. When you have opened your SnapWidget account, you need to click the Instagram button and select what kind of layout you would like to use:

2. Then you need to click the blue button:

3. Complete the fields provided to create your widget. When you click in the username field, a window will appear, prompting you to log into your Instagram account and authorise SnapWidget’s access to your account. When you have completed all of the fields, click the blue button:

4. A window will then appear. You need to copy the code from within this window and log into your EKM online shop:s4.PNG

Adding the gallery to a Webpage

1. If you are planning to add SnapWidget to a Webpage, you need to open the Webpage up to edit it, and then click the Source button:

2. You then need to paste in the SnapWidget code where you would like the gallery to display:

3. Click the Source button again, and you’ll see a space where the code has been added. Click Save & Close:

4. When you view the Webpage via the front end of your EKM online shop, you’ll see the SnapWidget gallery displayed:

Adding the gallery to an Element

1. If you wish to add the SnapWidget gallery to a specific element on your EKM online shop, log in to your account, click the Shop tab and ensure that the Edit Design button is turned on:

2. Click the Edit Element for the element where you want to add the SnapWidget gallery:

3. Click the Content tab:

4. Again, you need to click the Source button and paste in the SnapWidget code, before clicking the Source button again to ensure that the code has been properly added:

5. You then need to click the Save & Close button:

6. If the element is hidden, you need to click the Edit Element button again and select Show from the drop-down menu to ensure that the element is visible on the front end of your EKM online shop.

[tips] We recommend that if you wish to use a SnapWidget gallery on your EKM online shop, you upgrade your SnapWidget account to a paid version. This is because when customers to your shop click any of the images on the free version, they are redirected to a SnapWidget page displaying your image and some advertising, and not directly to your Instagram feed, which would increase your followers as customers can follow you from there.[/tips]
